Hot Forming
Induction Upsetting
By induction upsetting, we mean die forging with prior inductive heating of components to forging-appropriate hot forming temperatures of up to 1,250°C. The components are partially heated in advance via an
induction coil and then fed to the forging press for forming. This process enables controlled material distribution and shaping while offering high energy efficiency and short process times.
Electric Upsetting
In electric upsetting, or E-upsetting for short, the process steps of heating and forming are combined in a parallel process within one machine, which contributes to a significant increase
in the upsetting ratios achievable in a single forming step. Through conductive heating “just in time” and “just in place,” we achieve reduced scale formation while maintaining maximum energy efficiency.
Cold Forming
Rotary Swaging
Rotary swaging is performed via tool segments (swaging dies) that act radially on the workpiece in rapid oscillating succession while rotating around it, which in combination with simultaneous axial feeding of the workpiece leads to gradual, incremental forming of the workpiece. The swaging dies, typically up to 6 rotating around the workpiece, act radially against each other and strike the workpiece at up to 40 strokes per second, depending on the system design and operation.
Axial Forming
Here, the form-defining tool (die) with its lead-in taper is moved axially over a firmly clamped workpiece. In the process, the inner diameter or inner profile of the tool (for example in the form of a toothing) is transferred to the workpiece. In this case, the tool consists of a hardened bushing or – as a reinforced die – preferably with a carbide core.
Flow Forming
Flow forming on our Rollotronic® systems is a chipless manufacturing process for forming rotationally symmetrical hollow parts in the form of thin-walled tube sections or deep-drawn parts. By means of controlled radial movement of the internal and/or external forming tools (“rollers”) and their continuous rolling on and inside the workpiece, circumferential beads or grooves are produced.
