What is inductive upsetting?

By inductive upsetting, we mean die forging with prior inductive heating of the components to hot forming temperatures suitable for forging of up to 1,250°C. The components are partially preheated via an induction coil and then fed to the forging press for forming. For the forming of long parts, we rely on horizontal forging systems with split tools and up to 3 forming stages, whereby the fast operation of our mechanical forging presses allows the multi-stage forming of even complex component geometries with only a single heating process. Costly reheating of preformed parts and the resulting impairment of the material through increasing burn-off/scaling and/or surface decarburization are avoided. Through the targeted direction of the material flow in usually several forming stages, near-net-shape components are achieved. Even with complex shapes, only a small allowance remains for the final machining post-processing. Furthermore, the uninterrupted grain flow ensures the best component properties.

Contract Manufacturing

In addition to development, testing and prototype production, we offer contract manufacturing from small batches through to high-volume series. For this purpose, we have upsetting systems for solid and hollow parts with diameters up to approx. 50 mm and lengths from 200 to approx. 2,000 mm at our disposal. Depending on the scope of the order, our systems mostly operate fully automatically.
