Electric Upsetting for Energy-Efficient Forming Processes

On our electric upsetting machines, or simply E-upsetters, components are conductively heated by direct current flow during continuous feed-through, using up to 80 kVA, and are continuously upset with pressing forces of up to 16 tonnes, either freely against an anvil or in a die bushing. The “just in time” and “just in place” conductive heating process further reduces the tendency to form scale while achieving maximum energy efficiency. After the material has been pre-distributed, final shaping can be carried out in a conventional closed-die forging process (see also Induction Upsetting) within the same heat cycle.

We have several horizontal E-upsetting machines available, ranging from conventional standard machines to modified and further-developed systems. Depending on the material and forming operation, bar diameters from 14 to 36 mm can normally be processed. In special cases, or for hollow tube cross-sections, diameters of up to 50 mm are also conceivable
